We continue our journey towards truth and reconciliation in School District No. 83 in a multitude of ways, including teaching curriculum related to residential schools and Indigenous history. Orange Shirt Day was designed to commemorate the residential school experience, to witness and honour the healing journey of the survivors and their families, and to commit to the ongoing process of reconciliation. Social distancing measures changed how we acknowledged this important day this year, but not the statement.
